Re-Opening May 10!

Home > News & Events > Re-Opening May 10!

Dear Brothers and Sister of PLC,

I miss all of you so much… but love you even more. It is with that love, that I share the following news with you. In light of the Idaho Rebounds strategy announced last week by Governor Little, the PLC Board met last night to discuss and discern our response. After much consideration (as well as many discussions I have had with other area congregations and pastors) we have decided to resume services on Sunday, May 10th. We are thankful to God for the opportunity before us and also committed to adhering to the protocols set forth by the state of Idaho.

In Stage 1 of Idaho Rebounds, places of worship may open, following the protocols (which are in effect through all the stages) as stated below:

Individuals should continue to:

  • Engage in physical distancing of at least six feet
    • Wear face coverings in public places
    • Stay home if sick
    • Practice good hand hygiene
    • Cover coughs and sneezes
    • Disinfect surfaces and objects regularly

As we follow these protocols, we are implementing the following adjustments to our Sunday gatherings. These adjustments will be in place for the next several weeks.

  • 9:00 am Bible Study in fellowship hall
    • Seating will be distanced around tables
    • Please bring your own coffee or drink of choice
  • 10:00 am Worship Gathering in sanctuary and fellowship hall
    • Greeters will open doors for you.
    • Announcement sheets will be emailed out on Fridays. Hard-copies available on Sundays for self-pickup.
    • Seating:
      • In the sanctuary, seating will be limited to 4 people per pew, leaving a pew in between each row. Families, of course, can sit together.
      • There will be spaced seating available in fellowship hall with sound and video access.
      • You may also remain in your car and hear the service “live” via our FM broadcast to the parking lot.
    • Hand sanitizer remains available in every pew.
    • KidZone will be suspended for now.
    • Sharing the Peace will be suspended for now (just too tempting :).
    • The offering plate will be at the font and accessed at your convenience.
    • Communion will be offered in a way that respects distancing and touch. It is quite acceptable to refrain from communion if you prefer at this time.
    • Dismissal – I will dismiss from the front & ushers will guide each row out, providing distance while exiting.
      • Additional exits will be available: the west door in the sanctuary and the north door in fellowship hall.
      • No food or drink will be provided (kitchen closed).
      • No other classrooms will be in use on Sunday mornings.
      • The facility will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected (as usual) between gatherings.

  • PLC Bible Study groups and youth groups may resume at each group’s discretion.
  • Outside use of the facility is suspended until further notice.

  • We will continue an online presence – audio | video recording – posted after the morning service.
  • We will continue the option of remaining in your car and tuning into the service live on an FM broadcast.
  • We will continue to review these adjustments as we go, realizing that we all continue to be on a learning curve as we navigate this time of transition.
  • May we continue in fervent prayer for our world, nation, state, and community as we are all at various stages of dealing with the effects of this virus.

As Paul writes in Philippians 2:3-4,  “… regard one another as more important than yourselves. Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

We are seeking to provide everyone a point of entry as we begin gathering again. We love and respect all of you for wherever you may be in this re-entry process. Again, we will continue to monitor and assess the situation, making additional adjustments as needed. If you have any questions, please contact Lynn or me at the church office or any one of your friendly board members. I can assure you PLC staff, the board, and I continue in our prayers and love for each of you as we take these next steps together.
