Ecumenical Food Kitchen

Once again, the PLC Ecumenical Food Kitchen team served sack lunches and bottled water to 28 folks who stopped by First Presbyterian Church on Thu, Sep 24. Peace Lutheran is one of nine churches that serves a lunch three times throughout the year. Our church family is always generous with food and financial donations, and the people we serve are always grateful for the meal. We hope to continue this outreach ministry next year! – Marge Freligh, Team Coordinator

Family Promise Week: Oct 4-11

We look forward to serving our Family Promise families this month during the week of Oct 4-11. Due to the unique virus situation, Family Promise had secured a special grant, so our two families are being housed in hotel rooms since moving weekly is not viable right now. Maren Snyders has opened MealTrain for dinner donations only. Please check this link for additional information and to see what needs to be provided: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/w7ezqe thank you!

Dorcas Quilting

The Dorcas group always appreciates your fabric donations but can only take 100% cotton material. They have plenty of small cut pieces but could use large pieces for quilt backings. If you are donating sheets for quilt backs, they are asking for gently used, freshened/washed beforehand, and blemish free. The group meets the first & third Monday, 9 am – Noon, on Oct 5 & 19. Pick up a Stress Doll for someone you know going through difficult times. They are in a basket in the entryway. Contact Rebecca Kirkpatrick or Gail Schoonmaker for more info. Thanks always for your support of this incredible ministry!

Sharing Tree?

This seems like a good stewardship opportunity to bring up the idea of a Sharing Tree this season. Shoebox Gifts will already be in motion to spread our love globally. How do you feel about lending extra support to one of our local ministry partners, Safe Passage (abused women and children), via a Christmas tree in the fellowship hall? This sort of generosity has been successful in the past at Peace. If you decide to go forward with this, we can find out gifting ideas from Safe Passage. For instance, maybe you would like to craft something, provide a gift card, toy, clothes, quilt, etc. Talk about it together then let the church office know if we should put the wheels in motion and get the tree up in Nov! – Lynn Affeldt
