Coeur d’Alene Insider – Barb Nimke

Two years ago, Barb Nimke created a Facebook group to inform folks about free events, items, services and support groups in the Coeur d’Alene area – including Hayden, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Spirit Lake, Athol, Harrison and the Silver Valley. Many of you are already aware of this and are group members. Thank you!

She’d like you to also know about her website of the same name, Coeur d’Alene Inside, which is a well-researched guide to events (classes/workshops, concerts, health & safety clinics, theater events & movies, sports, tours, camps, museums, community meals, job fairs, library activities, holiday celebrations and special one-day events) – all at no cost to the participant! For items, services and support groups…you’ll be amazed what you’ll find (she promises that)! Check it out at www.cdainsider.com. Pick up one of Barb’s business cards on the table in the fellowship hall!

CYON Livestock Solutions – Jon Davis

Jon Davis recently decided on a career change, and is now the Sales Manager and Co-Owner of CYON Livestock Solutions out of Rathdrum, where he offers complete livestock care. CYON Livestock Solutions LLC was formed to help Cattlemen in the Northwest gain access to vaccines and management strategies along with vet care that they have not been able to obtain because of the lack of large animal veterinarians in the Northwest.

CYON Livestock Solutions provides cattle producers with health care items, veterinary care, feed testing, along with a herd management program. And, because he is currently building a website for his business, Jon has kindly offered to refresh our website, the “new front door of our church” for PLC. He has Word Press experience so we are anxious to see our new look!

PEACE will host the NW District LCMC Gathering: May 1-2, 2020

The NW District of LCMC includes congregations from Alaska, Canada, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The annual gathering is a great time for members and leaders to gather for worship, fellowship, prayer, and encouraging speakers. Our PLC NW District Gathering Team (so far):

Rebecca Kirkpatrick, Jon Davis, Marge Freligh, Ken Birge, Molly Shofner, Lee Ely, JoAnn Solberg, and Jolene Pooley. We will be gathering on Tue, Sep 17, for our first planning team meeting at Pastor Jon’s home, at 6 pm. The NW District Board will meet here Oct 21 during the day. More details coming soon!

NEW: A PLC Décor Team of JoAnn Solberg, Suzie English, Mary Cockerham, and Lee Ely has formed, and initially met on Aug 11 after worship, then again on Aug 16 to begin visioning and exploring the upgrade of our interior – it’s time for refreshing! Already great ideas are in play about paint color, window coverings, acoustical panels for the sanctuary, new fixtures, décor accents, art, lighting, etc. Some improvements have already begun! We hope they dream big and look forward to the renewal of our facility this fall and winter!

LCMC Annual Gathering

Pastor Jon will be attending the LCMC Gathering in Omaha, NE, Sep 29 – Oct 2, as our delegate. Wow – we have come full circle considering this is where our Call Committee members, Pastor Gail and Ruth Clark, met Pastor last year at this time! The Annual Gathering, Listen Up!, is a four-day event featuring keynote speakers, worship and Bible study, breakout sessions, vendors and plenty of opportunities for fellowship and networking. The theme centers upon God’s calling on our lives, his calling on the people around us, and the callings and challenges that face us across generations.

Church Council

Our elected 2019 Nominating Team will begin their work in September. They will be actively seeking those interested in serving on council, delegates to various partner corporation meetings such as the NW District Gathering (it’s here!), The Village at Orchard Ridge, Lutherhaven Ministries, and the LCMC Gathering. A four person 2020 Nominating Team also needs to be elected.

Also in Sep, a Budget Development Team will be activated consisting of the pastor, council president & VP, treasurer, financial secretary, and two appointed members at large from the congregation. Are YOU that member? Please speak with Council President, Kevin Schneidmiller to learn more!
