PLC Outreach Mission

What a wonderful Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Gifts Sunday celebration we had on Nov 11! An amazing 106 boxes were returned, placed in the sanctuary, blessed and sent during worship that day. Afterward we gathered for cake and the party was on! Thank you to Thrivent for their Action Team Card which supported the raffle for our box shipping needs. A total of $1,012 was raised including a gift received. Ruth Clark was the lucky winner of the $200 in gift cards drawing! Tremendous thanks to Diann Wandrey for her organization and heart for this ministry over the years and to Joann Carlson for providing our special OCC shoeboxes!

Ask and You Will Receive!

For the past few years, Betty Nomanson has done a great job as our liaison with The Village at Orchard Ridge, keeping us informed of events, activities, and attending the annual volunteer luncheon. She is now stepping down, and we are very pleased to announce that Ken & Rita Birge will be filling her shoes – thanks!

Family Promise

Our Family Promise organizing team has been busy since our last hosting week. They have met with Family Promise for a draft and final hosting week in 2019. Those weeks include: May 5-12; Sep 15-22; Oct 20-27. The team is still working on the fourth week. Heartfelt thanks to all who support this Christian ministry for homeless families by providing dollars, food donations, cooking, and serve as evening, dinner, and overnight hosts!

Our Family Promise organizing team will be meeting at Peace on Monday, Dec 3, at 6 pm. All are invited to attend. We will be reviewing this year and planning for 2019. This is a great opportunity to learn more about this important ministry and to become involved next year!

Orchard Ridge Workshop

Pastor Wandrey attended a Pastor’s Roundtable in Nov at Orchard Ridge. Once again, it was very informative about care giving/receiving and assisted living options. A six-week workshop will be held at The Village at Orchard Ridge on Wednesdays, Jan 9 – Feb 13 from 9:30 – 11 am entitled, Powerful Tools for Caregivers. It will provide learning strategies to reduce stress, enhance quality of life for your loved one, build confidence, and connect with helpful resources, all at no cost. Registration is mandatory. Please call 208-664-8119.

For your calendar: Coming up Feb 9, is the annual Family Promise Northwest Fest and Salmon Feast with dinner, auction and dancing! The event will be held at the Eagles Lodge on Sherman Ave, CDA at 5:30 pm, and catered by Greenbriar Inn with no host bar and live band – Desert Rose. To provide auction items and/or attend, please call Family Promise at 208-777-4190 or go online at

Christian Education

Sunday Morning Adult Class: “The Spiritual Realms”

We continue in Dec with a Bible Study on Heaven and Hell and places beyond this world. The nine session series from Sola Publishing looks at the many places named throughout Scripture referring to spiritual realms of existence that comprise the universe God created. This is a challenging study, because it explores realities that exist beyond what we know and experience every day. If you’ve ever wondered about our “struggle against the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this present darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” St. Paul mentions in Ephesians, then come at 8:30 am on Sunday mornings to be enlightened!

~Our older youth in 7-12th grade are meeting at the home of Pastor Gail every Sun morning at 8:30 am for study, and relevant discussion. Coffee’s on – come on over, the door is open!

~ Confirmation continues each Wed led by Pastor Gail. Amy Birge is our wonderful substitute when needed!

Bible Studies

Serendipity Bible Study: Wednesday – 10 AM

The unfolding story of Genesis continues each Wed morning. We are moving from pre-historic into history with Chapter 12! Come early to share prayer needs and concerns at 9:45 am, and we will promptly begin the study from 10-11 am. Please bring your Bible, and any version is acceptable. If you can’t be with us every Wed, join us when you can. – Pastor Gail

Thursday Bible Study – 11 AM

I AM WHO I AM – A Bible Study on the Trinitarian Name of God

Looking for a bible study? If so, come join us on Thursdays beginning late January (date to be confirmed) at 11 AM. This six-week study explores what it means to NOT “take the name of the LORD your God in vain” (Exodus 20:7), while trusting the promise in Christ that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21). Look for the signup sheet on the table in the fellowship hall. Please contact Jim Wardlow at 253-219-4461 or e-mail with any questions.

Please look for the latest quarterly devotionals on the table in the fellowship hall.
