Peace Reaching Out in Our Community and World!

Open Arms PCC

Open Arms PCC just announced our Baby Bottle Boomerang total. Out of the 25 baby bottles, 21 were returned for a total of $453. Open Arms sends their gratitude for the many years of support from our congregation. “We could not do this without your prayerful and financial support! Thank you!!”

ALICE IN OUR PEWS

Churches of Kootenai County joining together to serve the Asset-Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. We are gathering as church leaders and Christian people to learn about community members who make enough income to be above the Federal Poverty Line but are unable to make ends meet (the ALICE population). We will share what our churches are doing to serve the ALICE population of Kootenai County and discuss how the faith community can address the unmet needs of the ALICE population sustainably by building relationships and working together. This invitation is for all Pastors, church leaders, and people of faith interested or passionate about the ALICE population in our community.

RSVP TO ADRIANNA at (503) 415-1715 OR ADRIANNA at 1STPRESDOWNTOWN.ORG

Quilting

The Dorcas Quilting Group is taking a break for the summer months, but we know their ministry continues in many ways. Guess what has been happening in the background? Folks are making flannel diapers to be sent to Uganda next year! Those babies are going to have the jazziest diapers around! Another is making simple dresses to send!! Please contact Cinda Fueller, 773-3025, about how you can assist anytime with this ministry.

We’re excited that Chorale Coeur d’Alene has renewed their contract to continue rehearsing at Peace this coming season from Sept 5 – May 17. The Chorale will hold a special retreat on Saturday, Aug 26, from 8 am – 5 pm for rehearsal and auditions (try out!). Remember that packed house, stunning concert they performed for us in May? Put Saturday, Oct 14, at 3 pm on your calendar right away as the Chorale plans to dazzle us with their fall repertoire “Spirit Awake” under the direction of Dr. Stan McDaniel.

Uganda Mission Update

Our Uganda Medical Mission is only postponed. We have identified that the only possibilities with Next Generation Ministries are not until mid-April to end of May 2018. They have a 12-week young adult course that consumes the fall, and then a handful of other teams coming early 2018. They need time to recuperate between each team so that puts our trip in April or May. If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Maren or Brian Snyders at (208) 818-7055 as there are many other ways that you can be a part of this team. Most importantly, please join us in prayer NOW as we prepare our hearts and minds for this trip. Thank you to many members that have already shown tremendous support! Brian and Maren Snyders

Food Bank

In July, Ardella Quaale delivered 60 lbs for food donations to the Post Falls Food Bank. With children home from school during the summer, sometimes food needs are greater. Catch the sales and let’s fill up that cart! For our local July benevolence, Peace sent $800 to the CDA Food Bank!
