Peace Reaching Out in Our Community and World!

Ecumenical Food Kitchen

The Ecumenical Food Kitchen team served 45-50 plus people Thu, June 22, at First Presbyterian Church, CDA. Once again, thanks go to our Church Family for your generous donation of food and money to help support this worthwhile service to our community. September 28th will be the next time to serve. Special thanks to our team: Ken Birge, Jim & Roxanne Helgeson, Judy Zeller, Helen Darst, and Coordinator, Marge Freligh

Family Promise News

Romans 12:13 states, “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” That statement seems so simple and yet non-negotiable.  It doesn’t just say practice hospitality when we feel like it or when it works with our schedule, and we believe our church takes this command seriously! The Peace Lutheran Family Promise Team is so thankful that our church provides an opportunity four times a year to honor this command. Four times a year to shower complete strangers with love, food and support. We love that Peace Lutheran volunteers treat these families as they should be:  like honored guests in the home that God has provided to this congregation. So consider this your invitation to be a part of the next Family Promise week coming up August 13-20! We know summer schedules are really busy, so take a look at calendars now to see if you can find a spot that week to help fill a two hour slot or fix a meal. An update from the May host week is that a single mom is graduating from Family Promise, therefore has accomplished all to provide a home for her family. Peace Lutheran was a part of making that happen – awesome!!!

Uganda Mission Update

Our Uganda Medical Mission is not cancelled but rather postponed. We have identified that the only possibilities with Next Generation Ministries are not until mid-April to end of May 2018. They have a 12-week young adult course that consumes the fall, and then a handful of other teams coming early 2018. They need time to recuperate between each team so that puts our trip in April or May. God is good and will help us nail down the specifics! If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Maren or Brian Snyders at (208) 818-7055 as there are many other ways that you can be a part of this team. Most importantly, please join us in prayer NOW as we prepare our hearts and minds for this trip. Thank you Peace Council and to many members that have already shown tremendous support!

Food Bank

Joyce Beghtel delivered 55 lbs to the CDA Food Bank in June, along with Diann Wandrey’s donation of 226 lbs! Ardella Quaale 30 lbs to PF Food Bank too! With children home from school during the summer, sometimes food needs are greater. Catch the sales and let’s fill up that cart! For our local June benevolence, Peace sent $800 to the Post Falls Food Bank and was matched by the Greene Idaho Foundation!

Quilting

The Dorcas Quilting Group is taking a break for the summer months, but we know their ministry continues in many ways. Some will slide in to do work here and there and they invite you to join them! Please contact Cinda Fueller, 773-3025, about how you can assist anytime with this ministry.
