SOLE HOPE SHOE CUTTING PARTY

What a party!! Twenty people showed up to cut up jeans, trace patterns, and cut the patterns out. The Dorcas Quilters had purchased bags of jeans from local thrift stores, and had started cutting the pattern pieces weeks before the event. Through all the work we also enjoyed great fellowship and chocolate chip cookies!! At the end of the afternoon we had cut up enough patterns for 120 pairs of shoes (that’s twice as many as the party in October), and collected $400 for a cash donation. The cash donation goes to Uganda to help pay for the other materials to complete the shoes, to pay the wages for the tailors who make the shoes, and to help pay the expenses for the trained groups of people to go to the villages, treat the children with jiggers, and educate the villagers on prevention. Sole Hope is really making a difference in people’s lives, and Peace Lutheran is a great part of that mission. Please click on www.solehope.org and see what is going on!! Thank you to all who participated, and please remember we will do this again in October. Bring your friends!!

Dear OCC Church Partners,

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for partnering with Operation Christmas Child in 2016. It is a blessing to partner with local churches to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children all over the world!

North Idaho alone brought in 7,662 shoeboxes! The total number of shoeboxes collected was 11,485,662! Each of those boxes represents a child who had the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.

More exciting news is the number of children enrolled in The Greatest Journey (TGJ) in 2016 was 3,552,115. Just in case you are not familiar with TGJ, it is a 12-week voluntary class the kids have an opportunity to take in many countries. This class disciples them on a much deeper level. Out of those children who participated last year, 1,616,466 accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at their personal Savior! God is working through the gift of a simple shoebox. If you have any questions, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.  Our phone number is 208-415-8295. Thank you again for your partnership in spreading the Gospel.  May God bless you this next year as you faithfully serve Him!

Sincerely,

Amy and Naomi Holland
