Oct 30 – Whassup at Peace?

Another question/answer open forum for the congregation is scheduled for Sunday, October 30, following our morning worship service. This is an informational time together when you may get updates on what’s happening in our congregation, and ask the church leadership any questions you might have regarding the ministry and mission we share. One of the topics to be addressed will be a way we can best move away from the concept of being members with privilege, to the notion that everyone who worships with us has a sense of belonging here, so all of us together may serve Christ and his church. Our Mission & Vision Team will also share info about a playground at our church. Plan to stay after worship October 30 to enjoy refreshments and fellowship, as well as learn how Peace Lutheran Church is building up the Kingdom of God! – Pastor Wandrey

Small Group Service Projects

Four of our Sinner/Saint Sharing small groups were involved with their service projects in Oct. The two Thursday evening groups teamed up and organized a Wine & Cheese Party for Jessica Foushee on Oct 8, at the home of Chris Clark. The wine poured freely and the selection of fine cheese and chocolate were decadent! Between your Sunday offering gifts and the benefit, $2,050 total was raised for Jessica to support her ongoing treatment of Lyme disease in India. Jessica, and her mother Suzan, are expected to return mid-Nov, so please keep them in your prayers. Thank you for your love and caring of this new member to our faith family.

Here’s note from Jessica Foushee:

Dear Peace Lutheran Family – Your generosity and support has truly overwhelmed me! I am thankful beyond words! Because of this, you all have a permanent place in my heart. It’s exciting to see what God has planned for my future once I undergo these final stem cell treatments.

All my love to each one of you, Jessica Foushee

On Sat, Oct 22, the Tuesday evening, and Monday afternoon small groups  threw a party of their own in support of Sole Hope! You may remember this organization from our Uganda Mission earlier this year when our team traveled to the Sole Hope headquarters and learned about this important ministry in Africa. We even got to see the finished shoes. Using old jeans, 52 patterns were cut here to assemble sturdy shoes made from denim and recycled tires in country, supporting jobs there. Participants had a great time cutting and chatting, envisioning the child that would wear these shoes! We hope you had a chance to see the service project work on Oct 23! Thanks to all who participated in this great effort!
