Mission/Vision at Peace

Community Outreach

Mission/Vision Team is looking for people who would like to reach out to our surrounding community to see how our church can serve the local area on Sat, March 29, at 10 a.m. We would meet at the church, and car pool to the homes and neighborhoods around the church. We’ll go door to door, introduce ourselves and the location of our newly established church, and ask the homeowner how we can serve the local community. This could bring about an opportunity to tell them about Peace Lutheran and invite them to visit. We will have our brochures and business cards to distribute as needed. If interested, please let me know in person, call 208-818-3146, or email me at bravafun2@gmail.com. Thank you! Valda Pfundheller

The Mission/Vision Team will meet Wed, April 2, one hour earlier at 5 p.m. due to Lenten supper. Speak with Valda Pfundheller for more details about this great team and how to become involved with the community garden plan, outreach day, becoming an advocate, and Family Promise!

Family Promise at Peace Lutheran

We will be hosting Family Promise guests again before you know it! This is a good month to prepare and plan for the next hosting week of May 25-June 1. We are one of several host churches in the Family Promise network, and grateful God has led us into this important outreach ministry. Family Promise is the only local organization that attempts to keep the whole family intact during a homelessness crisis. You can imagine how valuable this is for the stability of families and school-aged children. Peace continues to support this important ministry by providing food for meals, hosting, staying overnight, and contributing supplies. Training to serve as dinner hosts and staying overnight with our guests is available – please ask Valda Pfundheller for dates. Here are the remaining weeks scheduled for this year: Sept 21-28; Nov 2-9. If you have any questions about, or would like to be involved in this outreach ministry, please call Valda at (208) 818-3146.

A Family Promise Needs List is posted on the bulletin board, and there are copies on the table for you to take home. If you can help, please phone first for the most urgent needs as the list continuously updates. Thanks!

 Community Garden at Peace!

Mission/Vision Team is in the early stages of planning a community garden this spring! Volunteers will be needed for prep work, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. Any garden tool donations like rakes, shovels, hoes, trowels, or cultivators will be cheerfully received! Contact Valda at 818-3146 for the scoop!

Our Mission Partners, CDA Homes, Family Promise, and Lutherhaven Ministries are all looking for a congregational advocate from each church. If you have good communication skills, and would like to keep Peace informed about news, events, and opportunities, just give us a call in the church office at 765-0727. Update: Thank you to Maren Snyders and Brett Kirking, our new acting advocates for Lutherhaven Ministries!

Hi Peace Lutheran,

Our time has been incredible so far. You can follow a short blog about our trip at www.gatecitychristian.com and click on the red Uganda 2014 tab. There isn’t a lot there, but a short blog about each day. So much to share with you all when we get back. Thank you for the prayers of protection and provision – God is good!

Love, Maren & Family (Hands 4 Uganda mission trip)
