The One You Feed!

There’s a Native American legend of an old Cherokee chief teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside of everyone,” he told the boy. “It is a ferocious fight between two wolves. One is evil—he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, neglect, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other one is good—he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on every day inside you and every other person.” The grandson thought about this for a moment, and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief answered simply, “The one you feed!”

We don’t have to look very far around our world to be concerned that the wrong wolf is being fed by too many people! We have just celebrated the coming of our Savior into this world. The heavenly host who announced his birth to those first rough and rugged shepherds meant it when they said, “Peace on earth, goodwill among people.” Jesus came into this world, into human hearts where He is working to see that the right wolf gets fed.

His Church is working together with Christ toward that same purpose; to feed the right wolf. Through our worship services, Bible studies, prayer, ministry, and fellowship, Peace Lutheran is nurturing all who come here. The benefits we receive from God when we come together strengthen us for our service in the world around us.

Are you hungry for God’s Word and fellowship with other believers? The two wolves fighting inside of you are both hungry! Which one are you feeding? Which one will win? Because our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, came into this world, the outcome has already been determined for the world. Through his cross and resurrection, Christ has won the battle between good and evil in the hearts of everyone who will receive Him. Receive Him today! Be involved in the life and mission of Peace, and experience the peace of God!
