Update for the Week

Home > News & Events > Update for the Week

On Fri of last week, the huge concrete chunks were removed. It’s been mostly a week of inactivity here construction wise. The crew from Continental was pulled off to work at another site, but is back with us today bedding the conduit with sand, backfilling the trenches with dirt, and will return Sat to base grade. Chad Kaufman, from Lake City Electric, worked Mon and Tue laying 1,300′ of conduit in the already prepared trenches by Continental. His good work was inspected and it passed with flying colors. Chad informed us that he has about a mile of wire to go, and will return to finish working on the light poles. The eight 20′ poles were shipped Aug 15, and should arrive next week. Help will be needed to off load them (just like we did with the cross). The actual lights will ship Aug 27.

Our next phase will be breaking and removal of the additional concrete pads, laying a base layer, installation of new concrete and curbing, and hopefully we’ll start seeing asphalt by the last week of August! All work and the final inspection is scheduled to be completed before Sept. 12. A chalk drawing from VBS week is a great reminder of what Peace Lutheran Church is all about – Joy! We002 001 003 004 005 006‘re almost there!
